Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms before booking a lesson, package, mock test, test HIRE service, or licence success program with First Ride Driving School.
Clear expectations before you get behind the wheel.
These are the key booking terms students need to know before starting lessons with First Ride Driving School.
By booking or attending a lesson, you agree to follow NSW road rules, your licence conditions, and your instructor's safety directions.
Bookings
Your place is confirmed when we accept the request and payment requirements are met.
Changes
Give at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule without a late fee.
Safety
Lessons or HIRE may be refused if it is unsafe or documents are missing.
1. Acceptance of Terms
- These terms apply to lessons, packages, mock tests, test HIRE, vouchers, and related First Ride services.
- If someone books for a learner, they confirm they have permission to provide the learner's details.
- Any special arrangement must be confirmed by First Ride in writing.
2. Licence, Eligibility & Documents
- Bring a current licence or permit to every lesson and test-day booking.
- Wear required glasses or contact lenses while driving.
- You are responsible for Service NSW requirements, test eligibility, identity documents, logbook hours, and licence restrictions.
- If you cannot legally drive on the day, the booking may be cancelled and charged.
3. Bookings, Availability & Residential Address
- Bookings depend on instructor availability, suburb coverage, vehicle availability, and payment status.
- Your booking is confirmed only after First Ride or checkout accepts it.
- Be ready at the agreed residential address on time. Late arrival may reduce lesson time.
- Residential addresses outside normal service areas may be declined or may cost extra if agreed first.
4. Cancellations, Rescheduling & No-Shows
Minimum 24-hour notice required
A booking must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time to avoid a late cancellation charge.
- Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before the lesson.
- Less than 24 hours notice may be charged in full.
- No-shows or arrivals more than 15 minutes late may be charged in full.
- If we cancel because of safety, weather, vehicle issues, or emergencies, we will offer a reschedule or credit.
5. Payments, Packages, Credits & Refunds
- Prices can vary by instructor, suburb, service, package, duration, and test centre.
- Payment may be required online, before the lesson, or at the lesson start.
- Discounted packages are paid upfront and are valid for 12 months unless stated otherwise.
- Completed lessons, no-shows, late cancellations, and partly used packages are not refunded except where required by Australian Consumer Law.
- Approved refunds may exclude non-recoverable card, PayPal, bank, or processing fees.
6. Driving Test Preparation & HIRE
- Test HIRE depends on instructor availability, vehicle availability, test centre coverage, and your driving standard.
- The instructor may refuse test car use if they believe it is unsafe.
- You must book the official test, check the date/time, bring documents, and meet Service NSW requirements.
- First Ride is not responsible for Service NSW cancellations, examiner availability, missing documents, learner ineligibility, or test results.
7. Logbook Hours & Training Records
- Eligible NSW learners may receive 3 logbook hours for 1 structured instructor lesson, up to the NSW limit.
- You are responsible for keeping your logbook accurate.
- Lesson feedback helps your progress but does not guarantee a test pass.
8. Safety, Conduct, Fines & Liability
- Follow road rules, licence conditions, and instructor directions at all times.
- A lesson may stop without refund if the learner is unsafe, impaired, aggressive, unwell, too tired, or wearing unsafe footwear.
- Fines, tolls, or penalties caused by the learner's driving are the learner's responsibility.
- First Ride is not responsible for indirect losses such as missed tests, lost wages, or travel costs, except where the law says otherwise.
9. Privacy, Communications & Media Consent
- We use your details to manage bookings, payments, safety, reminders, support, and service records.
- We may contact you by phone, SMS, email, or system notification about your booking.
- We do not sell personal information. We only share it where needed to provide services or comply with law.
- Passing photos, videos, testimonials, or success messages are used for marketing only with consent.
10. Changes, Questions & Governing Law
- We may update these terms when needed. The latest version on this page applies.
- These terms follow the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
- Contact First Ride before booking if anything is unclear.
